Downloading Using the FastPath Manager
The FastPath Manager can be used to download VROM on FastPath 5s and to download K-STAR on both FastPath 4s and 5s, if the FastPath is not password protected.
Downloading VROM
Follow the instructions in this section to download VROM Version 5.1:
1.Remove your FastPath 5 from its network and set it up on a 2-node network. Refer to Technical Tip #8 for information on setting up a 2-node network.
2.Launch the FastPath Manager application by double clicking its icon.
3.Select the Find All command from the Gateways menu to get a listing of all available FastPaths.
Note: Your FastPath should be the only one listed on the 2-node network.
4. Open the FastPath by double-clicking on it or by highlighting it and clicking Open.
5.Select the Save Configuration File command in the File menu to save the configuration to disk.
6.Enter a name for your configuration file in the dialog box and click Save.
7.Turn off power to the FastPath.
8.Locate the pin reset hole for the FastPath you are resetting.
9.Insert a straightened paper clip into the pin reset hole (the reset switch is about 1/2" inside the hole). You can feel the reset switch click (or stop) when you insert the paper clip. Hold the paper clip firmly in this position.
10.While still holding the paper clip on the reset switch, press the appropriate unit enable button for that unit, or in the FastPath brick, turn the power switch on.
11.Wait 5 seconds and then remove the paper clip.
The FastPath lights on the front of the FastPath go through the normal self-test sequence and then the Power light starts flashing yellow.
12.Select the Find All command from the Gateways menu to locate the FastPath.
13.Open the FastPath by double-clicking on it or by highlighting it and clicking Open.
14.Select the Download a File command in the File menu.
15.Select the kfps5vrom Version 5.1 11/25/91 file by double-clicking it or by highlighting it and clicking Open.
