QUESTION: The pages on this site load slowly, can I speed things up?

    ANSWER:

  • To turn off graphics in Navigator 3.x, go to the Options menu and uncheck Auto Load Images.
  • To turn off graphics in Navigator 4.0, go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences. Select Advanced and uncheck Automatically Load Images.

  • To turn off graphics, animation, and sounds in Internet Explorer 3.x, go to the View menu. Select Options, and then choose the Appearance tab. Uncheck the appropriate boxes.
  • If you're using Internet Explorer 4.0, go to the View menu, select Options, choose the Advanced tab, and uncheck the appropriate boxes.

Though you've turned off graphics, you won't be left in the dark. Our site provides alt text, which shows up to describe the graphics your browser doesn't display. Alt text's primary function is to let you know what graphical links connect to. But if you need to see a navigational image map, click Navigator's image placeholder or right-click Internet Explorer's image placeholder, and then select Show Picture.
